Summer Movies 2012 May and June:
'via Blog this'Lily Collins lives out a fairy tale as Snow White and spars with Julia Roberts's wicked queen in this week's release Mirror Mirror, but is the old story worth revisiting? I'll tell you whether it's worth your while to check this movie out in theaters or not.Hi, I'm Shannon Vestal, and in this week's Watch, Pass or Rent, we're looking at Mirror Mirror. In this take on Snow White, Julia Roberts plays the wicked queen who tries to destroy the beautiful, young Snow White played by Lily Collins. Who are you? Snow White. Snow who? No way! The director Tarsem Singh is known for his bold, visual style and while this movie is really beautiful to look at, that's one of the only highlights. You're a girl. I don't fight girls. Perhaps I should reconsider. Revamping fairy tales is huge right now but this take on Snow White just doesn't really have an interesting angle. There are a couple of small twists like we get a lot of the perspective of the wicked queen, and at one point Snow White's face is different but it's just not exciting enough to hold your attention. I've read so many stories about how the prince saves the princess but it's time to change that ending. I love Julia Roberts but as the queen, she is not evil enough for you to hate her and she is not funny enough for you to love her either. It's just felt like a waste of her talent. Is it done? Just as you instructed. you're not as pathetic and wimpy as I've always believed. That's the nicest thing you've ever said to me. And then there's Lily Collins, who's so beautiful as Snow White but her character just doesn't really have that much substance besides being sweet. However, there is one cast member who shines. Armie Hammer is perfectly cast as Prince Charming. He's gorgeous, he is actually really charming, he's like a Disney prince come to life. "I think Snow White is the most beautiful woman in the whole world." Agree to disagree. The castings in the set are colorful and creative, but they're pretty much the only things that will keep you awake. You don't root for Snow White or the wicked Queen and I just think that if you're into fractured fairytales, you should just wait for Snow White and the Huntsman and pass on this one.

NÁDHERNÁ ZELENÁ - La Belle verte (o na Zem zatoulané mimozemšťance, 1996)
Lindsay Lohan Confirmed for Role as Elizabeth Taylor
Making a big comeback in the acting world, Lindsay Lohan has officially announced that she is set to play Elizabeth Taylor's character in the new Lifetime original movie, “Liz and Dick.” Over the recent months there’s been numerous rumors spread that the "Mean Girls" star would be playing the coveted role, but her recent run-ins with the law were expected to ruin any chances of the collaboration. "We have wanted Lindsay from day one," said Larry Thompson, executive producer, in an interview with E! News. "She had a lot in her life that was going on. We needed to give her time to take care of her business, and while we negotiated the deal for her we prayed for her—and wonderfully she has behaved. She's cleared herself and we're ready to start this movie." The 25-year-old actress expressed her excitement for the role in a recent press release, stating, “I have always admired and had enormous respect for Elizabeth Taylor. She was not only an incredible actress but an amazing woman as well. I am very honored to have been asked to play this role.” The film will portray the late actress’ love affair with Richard Burton and its impact on the media. The couple left their spouses after meeting during the production of “Cleopatra” in the early sixties. They fell in love, married and divorced ten years later only to get married again in 1975, which ended in a second divorce. “We are thrilled Lindsay will portray beloved Hollywood legend Elizabeth Taylor,” said Rob Sharenow, Executive Vice President of Lifetime Networks in a statement. “She is one of the rare actresses who possess the talent, beauty and intrigue to capture the spirit of such a provocative icon.” "Liz & Dick" is set to begin filming in early June in Los Angeles.
