Nutcracker from Boston Dance
The Boston Ballet’s new Nutcracker with its silky and decked dress and large, regal sets, brings a smoothness and light a pensive knowing to the august feast classic. It, like arty boss Mikko past version, is all about the dance, not just honor to show and mime. But it goes a step more: It crack open “the private world of children,” as artist Maurice Sendak puts it in his 1984 opening to the E.T.A. Hoffmann story at the ballet’s core, helpful how far we have to travel to grow into our full, adult selves.
