AKGUL AMANMURADOVA

Akgul Amanmuradova was born June 23rd 1984 in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. As of July 14th 2009, she is 117th in the WTA rankings. At 6 foot, 3 inches (1.90m) she is used to be the tallest player on the Sony Ericsson WTA Tour. She was de-thronged of this title by Czech player Eva Hrdinova who stands at 1.91 m

in 2005, she reached her first ever WTA singles final in Tashkent, the capital of her home country. In the final she lost to 16-year old Michaela Carjack of the Netherlands. Her first WTA Tour doubles win was 2009 AEGON International at Eastbourne, where she and partner Ai Sugiyama defeated Rennae Stubbs and Samantha Stosur in the final. She has played in all the major Grand Slam Titles and but failed to won any one of those. Her best performance by far in any Grand Slam was second round of Australian Open. Akgul has managed to won 8 ITF singles titles and 10 ITF doubles titles. She currently ranks World no. 94 in Singles and World no. 66 in doubles.
