We’d like to thank everyone that’s voted so far in our Pop Olympics trial polls—and based on the overwhelming number of votes we’ve received so far, that’s quite a lot of you to thank. Still, with polls closing on Sunday night at midnight, there are still a couple days of voting left, so if you haven’t voted yet—or if you have, and you feel strongly enough to vote again—be sure to do so.
The South Korea artist poll is our closest right now, with Big Bang just barely edging out Girls’ Generation for the lead, but the Great Britain poll is nearly as close, with The Wanted fighting to wrangle control of the vote with their rival group One Direction. Justin Bieber leads the Canada poll, with Nickelback trailing closely behind, and Lady Gaga is creeping up on frontrunner Taylor Swift in the U.S. poll. All of the races are still too close to call, though, so be sure to get out and vote for your favorite artist to represent your country in our Pop Olympics next week!
Once the victors in the trial polls have been decided, our winners will square off next week in a series of daily events, including Best Song, Best Video and Best YouTube Moment. From there, the votes will be tallied and an overall winner will be declared, with special prizes—medals, if you will—being awarded to the victorious artist and country.
So vote in our trials over the weekend, and be sure to come back next week to vote in the individual events and help us decide which artist—and country—reigns supreme over the pop world in 2012.
