
Carrie Underwood’s “Blown Away” doesn’t leave you with many music-video options. The song already tells a story, and it’s pretty clear–a girl prays for a storm to destroy her abusive father’s house, with the father in it, and locks herself in the cellar during that divine retribution. If you’re making a video of this, you make a video of a storm destroying an abusive man’s house. You don’t make a generic performance video, you don’t go off onto tangents or new scenery; your only options, really, are adding a couple inobtrusive wind-machine scenes or an extra layer of metaphor (in this case, The Wizard of Oz.)
