Madonna’s New Truth or Dare Shoe Collection Is Pointy, Black, Studded and Sexy

Occasionally, celebrities “design” clothing and accessories that we can’t imagine they want to wear in real life (allow us to submit J.Lo for Kohl’s as evidence). That is not the case with Madonna’s new shoe line, Truth or Dare. It’s fairly easy to imagine her voguing, or, to use a more current cultural reference, waving a fake gun around on stage, in most of these styles.

Perhaps that’s because Madonna has appointed her costume designer and stylist of many years, Arianne Phillips, as creative consultant for the brand. Meanwhile, she’s entrusted the production of Truth or Dare to Aldo, who will be churning out a whopping 60 styles including flats, pumps, T-strap heels and riding boots. Prices for the collection will range from $89 on up to $349. According to a press release, the brand “targets Madonna’s core demographic, women aged 27-50.”

Why is Madonna pursuing a career in fashion when she’s already a huge musical success? Well, because it can be extremely lucrative. Just look at Jessica Simpson, who rose to fame on her singing skills and her ability to embarrass herself on national TV with ex-husband Nick Lachey. She now runs a fashion empire worth a reported billion dollars, and it all started with a shoe and handbag collection.

Nordstrom and Macy’s, which currently carries Madonna and daughter Lourdes’ collection Material Girl, will stock the shoes as of August 1; shoppers will also be able to find Truth or Dare online at Asos.com and Zappos.com. Lucky Brits can have at the shoes now—they landed at Selfridges last week.
