Elton John Really Puts It Out There With His Thoughts on Madonna

When it comes to beefing with the next generation of pop stars, Madonna could probably actually learn a thing or two from Elton John. When Madonna beefs with someone like Lady Gaga, it’s all done with this kind of subtle shade-throwing, with backhanded compliments and gentle dismissals and the like—more polite than just straight up-calling someone a you-know-what, but somehow less dignified. Elton, O.G. of this whole bitch game, is more of the straight-up you-know-what-calling philosophy. He had the following to say about his ol’ friend Madge during a recent Australian interview:

Why is she such a nightmare? Sorry, her career is over. Her tour has been a disaster and it couldn’t happen to a bigger cunt…If Madonna had any common sense she would have made a record like Ray Of Light and stayed away from the dance stuff and just been a great pop singer and make great pop records, which she does brilliantly. But no, she had to go and prove… she looks like a fucking fairground stripper.

Well. We’re also not the biggest MDNA fans, and it does seem like there have been a couple issues on the ensuing tour, but we’re not gonna go all on record calling her career over and calling her many worse things personally. Then again, when you’re one of Billboard’s top five most successful artists of all-time, as Madonna is, you should probably only be allowed to be so criticized by another top-fiver as Elton also is. Fight back, though, will you, Madge? Get down and dirty with it. Be unequivocal.
