Despite whatever hints Matthew Knowles be dropping about a possible Destiny’s Child reunion, it doesn’t look too likely to be happening any time soon. Why not, you might ask? Are Bey and Kelly (and sure, Michelle, we’ll say you too) too busy with their successful solo careers to burn time touring as a group? Do the girls just want to leave the past in the past and move forward with their lives? Are they all just really sick of performing “Independent Women, Pt. 1″?
Nope. Kelly says they’re just too happy all being friends and getting along so well to risk ruining things with a reunion:
We have a good time together and I think that’s the most important thing. We don’t want to scratch each other’s eyes out; we love each other too much. If [reuniting is] something that we would want to do, you know, [we would do it] but in the meantime we’re just enjoying each other’s friendship. That’s the greatest gift of Destiny’s Child.”
Awwww. We’re disappointed as pop fans, but we’re also more than a little bit touched that the DC family care about each other enough as sisters—and now aunts as well—to risk ruining that relationship with the stresses of a potentially lucrative reunion tour or project.
Maybe just an award show or two though, guys? We’ll do all the planning and such, you just gotta show up.
