Info Post

Last week, millions of you (literally!) supported your countries and favorite pop stars by participating in the first round of our 2012 Pop Olympics. We’re super grateful for the enormous patience and dedication you showed during the occasionally buggy process, and we promise that this week will be a much smoother experience.

CONTEST: Be A Pop Olympics Team Coach And Win A T-Shirt!

This week, the field has been narrowed from the initial 16 participating artists to your four finalists, vying for the title of World’s Greatest Pop Star. They are: JUSTIN BIEBER (Canada), GIRLS’ GENERATION (South Korea), TAYLOR SWIFT (U.S.A.) and THE WANTED (Great Britain). During the week, our four Pop Olympians will face off in a series of five musical competitions–a pop pentathalon–and, as always, you and only you get to determine the winner with your vote. Among the week’s events: Best Song, Best Video, and Best YouTube Moment. You can vote in each event as many times as you’d like, and the voting for each will remain open throughout the week. The results will be tallied at week’s end (midnight on Sunday, August 5), and on Monday, Aug. 6, we will announce the Gold, Silver and Bronze metal winners in the 2012 Pop Olympics.

And now, the fourth event: BEST MUSIC VIDEO. Peep the four clips below, watch them over and over again if you must, and then vote for whose music video you think is best.

And if you haven’t yet, be sure to head back over to our previous event polls to vote in those:

Best Song

Best YouTube Moment

Sexiest Artist

Justin Bieber’s first foray into dramatic music video acting, debuting earlier this week, resulted in by far his most memorable clip to date, also featuring The Bieb’s notable dancing, smoldering, and getting-beaten-up talents. We certainly hope it’s not the last time that he goes big-screen with his music videos—or the last time he works with Reservoir Dogs baddie Michael Madsen.

“Mr. Taxi” features the nine members of Girls’ Generation dancing in nifty yellow-and-black—yes, taxi-colored—outfits, in front of a huge lcd screen that appears to be sucking you into their own personal vortex. Need we say more? Little known fact: the taxi industry in South Korea experienced a short but economically undeniable boom in the months following this video.

Taylor became one of the great stars of 21st-century MTV with the “You Belong With Me” video, in which she proved herself equally adept at playing the adorable dorky best-friend-next-door and the super-hot bitch the good guys can’t resist. While we love dancing-around-in-her-PJs as much as the next pop website (if not more!)…we’d be lying if we said we weren’t occasionally wishing she would play the SHB again every once in a while.

Doing what they do best, the guys keep their party going all night long by hooking up with attractive female vampires (spoiler!) who lure them into seedy dungeons of debauchery. Entry to these clubs isn’t granted by simply making the cut of some fancy VIP list, but dependent upon the presence of mysterious tattoos along their inner wrists. When the boys and their partners finally come up for air, they celebrate their ability to escape nightfall with a rooftop jam session just as the sun rises. Mission complete.
