It’s about time Ellie Goulding released a new album, considering that debut Lights, in music-world years, is about as old as light itself; considering that she’s finally managed to break out in the States, a feat publicists have tried for almost as long; and considering that Ellie’s occupied quite enough time dating Skrillex, promoting one Lights single or other, and other such things.
Halcyon is due in early October, and Goulding’s just released a trailer. Here’s your rundown.
The trailer: One of those “Oh hi! Fancy the camera being here, fancy my face being in split-screen” deals. You’ve seen them, you know them.
The songs: Pretty good! Track one’s probably the most compelling, stomps and vocal loops, track two’s a fluttery midtempo track (with Ellie Goulding, mosbt things are fluttery), track three’s the quiet piano ballad and track four, “Anything Could Happen,” is the single, the big, brash ballad. Get to know it now. And then wait a few months so you can get to know that first track even better.
